Johnnie Paul
Johnnie Ray “Peck” Paul, age 78, of Jamestown, passed away
Sunday, Sept. 20, at his residence. He was born October 15, 1930,
in Norwood, Ohio, the son of Alva H. and Mildred (Reid) Paul. He grew
up in the Yellow Springs area.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Jerry
Paul. He was also preceded in death by his “best buddy” Taz.
He is survived by his wife, Ann (White) Paul, whom he married June 24,
1950; his daughters: Connie (Larry) Martin of Jamestown; Barbara (Jeffrey)
Oliver of Xenia; and Adrienne (Daniel) Shope of Jeffersonville; six grandsons:
Kelly, Bryan and Dale Martin; Kevin and Matthew Oliver and Justin Shope;
eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Lavonne Riley; and his newest companion,
Sammi; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Johnnie proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy, being assigned to
duty on the USS Spangler. He retired from Morris-Bean and Company. He
was a member of the Greene County Fish and Game Club. He loved to work
in his yard, fish and camp. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time
with the “love of his life,” and their children and grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his playful spirit.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, at McColaugh
Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Charles Hill officiating.
Interment will follow in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs. The family
will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. His family
would like to thank the staff of Dr. Mark Collins and Hospice of Dayton
for their compassion in caring for Johnnie.
