sports Bulldog Sports Roundup Boys 2nd at district The top four in each race advanced to the regional tournament, the final leg of which will be held Friday, May 29, at Troy Memorial Stadium, beginning with field events at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs started off an extremely hot day with wins in the mile run by Alexis Onfroy-Curley, who crossed the tape in 4:34.22, followed less than a second behind by second-place finisher Jacob GunderKline. The two then joined forces with Brock GunderKline and Anthony Pettiford to win the 4x800 relay in 8:29, about 12 seconds ahead of the field. The heat got to the distance runners first, and did some damage, but not enough to keep several more individuals and relay teams from advancing to regionals. The 4x400 relay team of Pettiford, Brock GunderKline, Josh Meadows and Logan Norris-Sayres finished third in 3:38. The 4x100 relay team of Mario Cosey, Raphael Allen, Chris Johnson and Norris-Sayres finished third in 45:16, while the same team finished third again in the 4x200 relay in 1:34.55. Jacob GunderKline wilted just a notch to take second in the two-mile run, while Brock GunderKline finished fourth in the 800 run. As a team, the Bulldogs got their lift from surprise feats by Mario Cosey, who got out of the blocks quickly and stuck his chest out to finish third in the 100 dash in 11.61 seconds. Steve Scott also achieved a huge personal best to finish eighth in the shot put with a launch of 39’3/4. Also, Raphael Allen finished sixth in both the long jump and the 200 dash to add points for the ’Dogs. Girls track eighth at district The stellar relay team of Ryder Comstock, Elizabeth Gonder, Brenda Jones and Melodie Wright were put to the test in all three sprint relays of the day. The team shined as winners in the 4x200 in 1:51.37, and still managed to advance to regionals by finishing fourth in the 4x400 and third in the 4x100 in 54.23 seconds. Gonder finished sixth in the 400 dash, Jones finished fifth in the 100 dash, and Reini Brickson finished seventh in the mile to float points for the Lady Bulldogs. 3on3 basketball registration Registration is still open for the Street Fair Shootout 3on3 basketball tournament during the Yellow Springs Street Fair on Saturday, June 13, at the Bryan Community Center outdoor courts.
