OBITUARIES

Ellen Campbell

Ellen K. Campbell of Greenville and formerly of the Columbus and Springfield areas, passed away late Saturday evening at the Covington Care Center in Covington, Ohio. She was 79.

She was born in Columbus, the daughter of the late Joseph and Jessie (Gaunt) Olds. A homemaker, Ellen had worked as a clerk in the engineering Department at General Motors prior to her marriage to Thomas. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Columbus and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville, Ohio.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Thomas L. Campbell in 2003; a son, Thomas Christopher Campbell; five brothers, Joseph, William Marshall, Robert, David and John Olds; and two sisters, Lois (John) Sullivan and Sister Mary Olds, SND.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Kathleen and David Stammen of Rossburg, Ohio; Mary Campbell-Zopf and Richard Zopf of Yellow Springs and Peter and Wendy Campbell of Shady Springs, W. Va.; grandchildren, Sara and Alan Timmerman, Nicholas Stammen, Magdalena Zopf, Isaiah Campbell, David Campbell and Amelia Campbell.

Mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday, May 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville, with Rev. John White celebrating. Burial followed in the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to either the Alzheimer’s Association or The Sisters of Notre Dame.

Wake for Warren Watson planned

A celebration of Warren Watson’s remarkable life will be held on Saturday, May 23, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the Birch House, 720 Jacoby Road, in Xenia Township. (Take Corry Street to left on Grinnell, to right on Clifton, to right on Jacoby Road to 720 Jacoby Road, up a long drive). Everyone who knew Watson is invited to share stories, listen to jazz, dance and generally have a “rollicking good time” to “honor his credo of living life to the fullest and enjoying every moment.” For more information, call 767-7834.
