The future of Antioch college—
No decision yet

As of Monday, April 28, there has been no decision from the Antioch University Board of Trustees regarding whether to accept the 10/10 proposal by the Antioch College Continuation Corporation, or ACCC.

An April 17 press release from the university stated that the trustees would deliver an announcement by Saturday, April 26, the date of the Antioch College commencement. However, there has been no announcement. On Friday, April 25, Antioch University spokesperson Lynda Sirk stated that she did not know when an announcement would be made.

The 10/10 proposal offers the trustees $10 million in exchange for 10 seats on the board, which currently has 19 members. That is the only offer on the table at this point, according to ACCC co-chair Eric Bates in a recent interview. The group’s previous proposal, $6.2 million up front and $6 million over five years in exchange for independence for the college, was taken off the table when negotiations broke off about a month ago. That offer is no longer on the table because it would be impossible at this point to continue Antioch College operations in an uninterrupted fashion next year as an independent entity and only the 10/10 offer can ensure continued operations, Bates said.

Antioch University Board Chair Art Zucker and Chancellor Toni Murdock were not available for comment due to an information embargo, according to Sirk last week.
