Bulldog Sports Roundup

Boys basketball at 2-0

The Bulldog boys basketball team took one more confident stride early in the season to defeat Miami Valley 73–41 on Friday, Nov. 30. The league win put the team up 2–0 for the season and 1–0 in the Metro Buckeye Conference.

Up 20–10 at the end of first quarter, the Bulldogs pushed the lead through the first half, going into the third quarter up 15 points. The team more than doubled its lead to end the period up 61–30 and maintained the gap the rest of the game.
“It was another game where everyone was able to participate,” Coach Brad Newsome said on Tuesday. “This team is very unselfish — they just want to win, they don’t care who gets the points.”

The Bulldogs were 100 percent from the free throw line. Their leading scorer was Jeremiah Peacock with 21 points and eight rebounds, followed by Kevin Sikes-Gilbert with 15 points. Kilan Brown finished off the double figures scorers with a total of 10 points, while Joe Fugate came through to seal the deal by contributing 8 points and six rebounds in the fourth quarter alone.

The team will be looking for a crowd at the two big home games this weekend against longtime rival Jefferson on Friday night and Stivers on Saturday.
