OBITUARIES
Richard A. Wead
Richard A. Wead, a native of Xenia who practiced law
in Xenia at Wead and Aultman for 40 years, died Friday, June 8, in Knoxville,
Tenn. He was 66.
He was born Dec. 12, 1940, the son of Robert H. and
Mary K. (Atwood) Wead. He was a graduate of Ohio State University College
of Law in 1967, a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, a member of
the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and a graduate of Greenbrier Military
School, Lewisburg, W.Va. in 1958. He was nominated by the Greene County
Republican Central Committee to fill a seat on the county board of elections,
commencing in 1976, and was past president and treasurer of the Xenia
Kiwanis Club, Kiwanis International.
He was a member of the Symposiarchs, Xenia Masonic
Lodge #49, F. & A.M. Xenia Chapter #36, R.A.M. Wright Council #96,
R.&.S.M. and the Nathaniel Greene Commandery, #81, K.T., Legion of
Honor Honoree in 2002, Yellow Springs Historical Society, Yellow Springs
Community Foundation and the Memorial United Presbyterian Church. He was
also president of the Greene County Bar Association in 1990.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Claudette H. (Hyduke) Wead
of Loudon, Tenn.; son and daughter-in-law, Richard H. and Sheri L. Wead
of Xenia; daughter, Amy M. Wead of Beavercreek; grandchildren, Eric R.
Wead, Nickolas F. Wead and Cassandra K. Wead; sister and brother-in-law,
Susan K. and Dr. James M. Blackford of Columbus; brother and sister-in-law,
Robert L. and Linda Wead of Columbus; aunt and uncle, Katherine Wead and
John L. Jones of Columbus; and nieces and nephews, Douglas, Emily, Kathy,
Sally and Jamie.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday,
June 15, at Memorial United Presbyterian Church, 343 W. Ankeney Mill Road,
Xenia. Visitation will be held from 5–7 p.m. Thursday, June 14,
at the Neeld Funeral Home, 1278 North Detroit Street, Xenia. Burial will
be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions
may be made to the American Cancer Society.
June Ehman
June Rebecca Ehman of Springfield passed away on Thursday,
June 7, in her home. She was 92.
She was born on June 7, 1915, in Springfield, the daughter
of Jacob and May (Collier) Hilt.
She was a lifetime member of the Bethel Lutheran Church,
volunteered at Community Hospital for over 10 years, and was a member
of the Order of Eastern Star, Aldora Chapter. For over 40 years, she wintered
in Ft. Meyers, Fla., with her husband, Bob. She was very artistic, having
painted numerous oil paintings, and she played the organ most of her life.
June was preceded in death by her parents; husband,
Robert Ehman; one sister; and three brothers.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley
and James Randall of Springfield and Louise and Franklin Agardy of Hillsborough,
Calif.; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Karen Ehman of Enon; three
grandchildren and their spouses, Steven and Paula Randall, Michael and
Tami Randall, and Melissa and Howard Collins; two step-granddaughters,
Kristi and Katie Nowack; two great-grandchildren, Rebekah Collins and
Joshua Randall; several nieces and nephews; and loving and devoted caregivers,
Cathy, Lisa, and Lucy.
Services were held at the Littleton & Rue Funeral
Home, Springfield, on Monday, June 11, at 10 a.m., with burial following
in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made
to the Bethel Lutheran Church, 2731 West Jackson Road, Springfield, 45502.
Ora Shook
Ora Shook, of Xenia, died Friday, June 8, at Hospitality
Home East. She was 90.
She was born March 3, 1917, in Mennifee County, Ky.,
the daughter of Lacey and Nanny Welch Keith.
Ora was preceded in death by her first husband, Park
Spencer and her second husband, Howard “Bud” Shook, two daughters,
Daisy McKenzie and Debbie Darlene Spencer and two sons, Harley Spencer
and Virgle Spencer; two grandchildren, Kenneth R. McKenzie and Thomas
Joseph Brennan; a sister, Mae Keith and three brothers, Warnie Keigh,
Lacey Keith Jr. and Henry Keith.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law,
Deskie Gifford, Jamestown, and Delma and James Brown, Lima; a son, Verlin
Spencer, Xenia; a son-in-law, William McKenzie, Xenia; 18 grandchildren;
several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iva Davis, New Castle, Ind.,
and Mavis Fultz, Muncie, Inc.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday, June 11, at the Neeld Funeral
Home, Xenia with burial following in Glen Forest Cemetery, Yellow Springs.

Memorial service to be held for John Schnurer
A memorial service will be held for John H. Schnurer
at Rockford Chapel on Friday, June 22, from 2 to 6 p.m. All are invited
and welcomed to gather with family. A longtime Yellow Springs resident,
Schnurer died suddenly May 30 at the age of 55.
