Besides being a showcase for some of Yellow Springs’ authors, the event is a fundraiser for YS Kids Playhouse.
Barnes & Noble will donate a portion of the sales made during the event to YSKP.
Schedule of Events:

11 a.m. Lauren Heaton, Yellow Springs News staff journalist, will read selected articles from Two Hundred Years of Yellow Springs. The book chronicles how the village has creatively and proactively met its challenges over the years.

11:30 Jaime Adoff, well-known author of Jimi & Me, Names Will Never Hurt Me, and The Song Shoots Out of My Mouth will read from his books and answer questions about his craft.

12 p.m. Motyka Davidson, from Yellow Springs’ own Glen Helen Outdoor Education Center, will give a “Reptile Talk.” Kids of all ages will want to see what “wild guests” Mo brings with her.

12:30 Arnold Adoff, widely honored author of more than 30 books of poetry for children, including The Basket Counts and I am the Darker Brother, will read from some of his favorites and answer questions about writing children’s books.

1:00 Cast members of the YS Kids Playhouse will read from their new, original comedy, CSI: YS, a crime scene investigation play based on the “Village Police Report” in the Yellow Springs News.

1:30 Diane Chiddister, Yellow Springs News editor and Antioch College adjunct professor, will read her favorite chapters from Two Hundred Years of Yellow Springs, and answer questions about research gathering.

2:00 Ed Davis, Sinclair Community College professor and author of four poetry chapbooks, will read from his novel, The Measure of Everything. The book is based on the 1999 purchase of Whitehall farm (on Yellow Springs’ border) to save it from developers.

2:30 Jerry Holt, Dean of the School of Liberal Studies at Antioch McGregor, will read from his new novel, The Killing of Strangers. This suspense thriller concerns an investigation of the events surrounding the Kent State University shootings in 1970.

3:00 Bill Felker, local almanacker and book binder, will present his “Winter Weather Forecast.”

3:30 Jimmy Chesire, the author of One Thousand Strikes, will read from his new yet-to-be-published book, Father, Father.

4:00 Raymond Ruka, an indigenous New Zealander now living in Yellow Springs, will read from his book The Family Tree of the Rainbow, the first in a line of generational stories for all ages.
