Etta Belle (Harris) Benning Williams
Etta Belle (Harris) Benning Williams of Yellow
Springs died Thursday evening, April 6, in Dayspring Nursing Center. She
was 80.
She was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on Jan. 21,
1921, the daughter of David Leon and Bessie (Perry) Harris.
Etta retired from the Greene County Sheriff’s
Department in 1990 after 15 years of service and previously worked in
the Antioch College library and the New Castle, Pa., library from 1958
to 1967.
She was an avid bingo player, loved traveling, reading
and singing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband,
Chester Peter Benning Jr.; four sisters, Beatrice Dixon, Bernice Walker,
Lolette Thompson and Wilhemina Buster; and three brothers, Raymond, David
and Fred Harris.
She is survived by her five children and their partners,
Gail Carson of Dayton, Deborah Benning and Ron Robinson of Yellow Springs,
Peter Benning of Enon, Byron Benning and Pam Childs of Atlanta, Ga., and
Faith Murphy and Lafonsa Knight, also of Atlanta; a brother and sister-in-law,
William and Grace Harris of Xenia; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren;
a host of nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Delbert Grimes of Xenia.
A graveside service will be held at noon on Saturday,
April 15, in Glen Forest Cemetery. Immediately following the service,
the family will gather for a meal and fellowship at Central Chapel AME
Church, 411 South High Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends
Care Center of Yellow Springs or Hospice of Dayton. Condolences may be

Anita M. Canterbury
Anita M. Canterbury of Yellow Springs died Tuesday,
April 4, in Hospice of Dayton. She was 59. Graveside services were held
on Monday, April 10, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Akron. The family
is being served by the Jackson Lytle Williams Funeral Home, Springfield.
Lela A. Wollum
Lela A. Wollum of Springfield passed away in Yellow
Springs.
Services will be held at Maiden Lane Church of God,
10:30 a.m., on Thursday, April 13.
Interment will follow at Glen Haven Cemetery.
