Matthew Clay Sr.

Matthew V. Clay Sr. of Springfield died on Tuesday, March 21. He was 79.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean; a daughter, Hope; his mother, Mary Lou Ventress; and brother, James.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Matthew V. Jr. and Jackie Clay, Anthony R. and Rachel Clay, all of Springfield, Lamont A. Clay of Piqua, Jerome Aric Clay of Yellow Springs and Pamela J. and Daniel Jones of Huber Heights; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren plus one on the way; a sister, Dorcas Jackson of Springfield; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Private services were held. Porter-Qualls Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
