YSHS honors winter athletes
Yellow Springs High School honored athletes who competed
in winter sports during a sports awards ceremony at the high school on
Tuesday, March 14.
On the girls swim team, Tina Chen, Olivia Dixon and
Eve GunderKline received third-year awards. GunderKline also received
the team’s Bulldog award. Miriam Barcus received a second-year award,
first-year awards were presented to Jenny Barnett, Claire Triplett and
Liz Zaff, and Michaela McCuddy received a JV award.
For boys swimming, Jacob Wishart received the Bulldog
Award and a fourth-year award. Brandon Carver-Halley and Carey Dixon received
third-year awards, Pete Lovering received a second-year award, and Sam
Borchers received a JV award.
In girls basketball, Megan Burrick received a fourth-year
award. Carly Bailey and Alisha Lucas received third-year awards. Bailey
also won the Bulldog award. Alisha Walker received a second-year award.
First-year awards were presented to Jenny Barnett, Olivia Chen, Ryder
Comstock, Kristen Foster, Jessica Kellar, Ashanta Robinson and Tenia Scarver.
For boys basketball, third-year awards were presented
to Brad Benning-Clark, Anthony Carter, Joe Lawhorn, John Pamplin, Ryan
Silvert and Issa Walker. Nick Eastman and Jerrico Stubblefield received
second-year awards. First-year awards went to Andrew Ferguson, Andy Peters,
Jesse Rothman and Todd Sheets. JV/Frosh awards were presented to Ben Armstrong,
Joey Bailey, Ethan Brown, Asa Casenhiser, Joe Fugate, Emilio Garcia, Brock
Gunder-Kline, Jacob GunderKline, Adrian Lester, Zane Reichert and Kevin
Sikes-Gilbert.
On the cheerleading squad, Anna Haller received the
Bulldog award and a third-year award. Alisha Lucas, Niquelle Orr and India
Scarver received second-year awards, and Kim Davidson, Danielle Fulton,
Ashlee Jackson and Britney Pitts received first-year awards. Fulton also
won the Bulldog award. JV awards were presented to Leslie Holland, Caitlin
Moran, Élan Orr and Ericka Patterson.
Youth soccer program to start spring season
Games for the spring season of the -Yellow Springs
Youth Soccer Program will begin on Saturday, April 8.
Players will remain on the teams that they were assigned
to in the fall.
New players are welcome to sign up by calling Bob Curley
for Bronze Cup (767-7070), Lynn or Bill Hardman for Silver Cup (767-8433),
and V.A. Onfroy-Curley for Gold Cup (767-7070). Copper Cup players do
not need to register.
Coaches will contact their players to schedule practices.
