In individual competition, Wishart swam season-best times to finish eighth in the 200 free and fifth in the 500 free. Lovering placed 12th in the 200 individual medley. Carey Dixon swam a gutsy race in the 200 free.

Bulldogs win 3 in 1 week
The YSHS boys basketball team won two conference games as well as a non-conference game last week, beating the Troy Christian Eagles, 59–49, on Tuesday, Feb. 7, knocking down Middletown Christian, 71–63, on Friday, Feb. 10, followed by a 56–54 win over Bethel on Feb. 11.

The Bulldogs go into their last game of the regular season 15–4 overall and 10–3 in the MBC.

In Tuesday’s game, the Bulldogs pulled ahead 13–3 in the first quarter and held a strong lead throughout the game. Brad Benning-Clark was the game’s high scorer with 19 points.

It was a similar story against Middletown. The Bulldogs outshot the Eagles to go ahead 22–14 in the first quarter, maintaining a clear lead. Benning-Clark scored 24 points, followed by Issa Walker with 18 and Ryan Silvert with 14.

Against Bethel, the Bulldogs gained a 35–20 point lead in the first half, and relaxed too much in the second while the Bees outscored them in both quarters and nearly took the lead. Walker led the team with 19 points, followed by Benning-Clark with 16 and Silvert with 12.

Lady ’Dogs win season finale
The Lady Bulldogs finished their regular season on a high note, beating MBC rival Middletown Christian, 39–32, on Thursday, Feb. 9. The team finished the year 14–6 overall and 7–5 in the Metro Buck-eye Conference.

The Lady Bulldogs started the game without one starter, and the handicaps kept coming. Carly Bailey and Megan Burrick both got into early foul trouble. The Lady Bulldogs slowed down the pace, and the score remained low and close. YSHS was up 23–15 at halftime.

The second half had its obstacles as well. Both Burrick and Bailey fouled out late in the third quarter, leaving the Lady Bulldogs with just two starters. Then one more starter was injured in the third period. Juniors Alisha Walker and Alisha Lucas coordinated defense coverage and directed the offense in the fourth.

Ryder Comstock and Ashanta Robinson pulled down a total of 12 rebounds. Robinson scored 9 points, while Burrick led the Bulldogs with 12 points and 5 rebounds.

7th-grade girls 2nd in league

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Dayton Christian on Tuesday, Feb. 7, to reach the championship.
