OBITUARIES

Loretta K. Lennon

Loretta “Laurie” K. (Call) Lennon died Tuesday, Jan. 3, at her home in Ossining, N.Y., after a long illness. She was 43.

Born in New Haven, Conn., on Aug. 20, 1962, Laurie later grew up in Yellow Springs. She moved with her family to Westchester County, N.Y., in 1976, where she attended Lakeland High School and lived her adult life.

On Jan. 14, 1995, she married her husband, Tom Lennon. She received her nursing degree from Westchester Community College in 2002 and worked as a staff nurse at both White Plains Hospital and Northern Westchester Hospital.

Laurie was best known among her many friends and loved ones as a person of determination, spirituality, positive attitude, joyful demeanor and strong spirit.

She was predeceased by her father, Dr. Edward P. Call.

She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Heather; mother, Lee, and stepfather, Dr. David Heller; brothers, Bruce Call, Douglas Call and Jonathan Heller; sisters Debbie Ruppert, Elizabeth Lena and Barbara Waldbaum and their families; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.

A remembrance service will be held Saturday, Jan. 6, at Ferncliff Chapel in Hartsdale, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, Laurie has requested that donations be made to Phelps Hospice, 701 North Broadway, North Tarrytown, N.Y. 10591.

Wanda ‘Elaine’ Jacobson

Wanda “Elaine” Jacobson died Sunday, Jan. 1, in Monroe, following a stroke. She was 86.

She was a former resident of Enon and a longstanding member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Yellow Springs.

Elaine, a graduate of Ohio State and the University of Pennsylvania, had a career as an occupational therapist. She was interested in genealogy and antiques. She was a determined woman who had a compassionate side. She will be remembered fondly and missed by her family and friends. She was a dear friend of Yellow Springs residents Berger and Yoli Mayne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Jacobson, in 1982.

She is survived by her son, Hans Jacobson, daughter-in-law, Lauren Miller, and grandchildren, Ben and Nick Miller-Jacobson, all of Yellow Springs; her daughter, Kris Hensley of Lebanon; grandchildren Taylor, Katie and Elizabeth; and great-grandchildren, Emily and Gracie.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

Memorial for Frank O'Brien Andrew

A memorial service for Frank O’Brien Andrew will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship meetinghouse.

Frank, 38, and his wife, Gretchen Andrew, 39, died Dec. 3 in a boating accident in New Orleans. Frank asked that donations be made to the Nature Conservancy, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203-1606.

Betty Wagner memorial

A memorial service for Betty Wagner, in care of the Yellow Springs Friends Meeting, will be held Saturday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m., at the Glen Helen Building. Betty died on Dec. 11.
