EDITORIAL

Thank you for a successful year

Publishing a newspaper is not an individual endeavor. It takes a dedicated and talented staff, devoted readers and generous and loyal advertisers. It is this partnership that makes publishing the News possible. Most important, it helps make the News a successful community paper.

Listed below are the names of those who contributed to the News in 2005 by writing letters to the editor, columns, reviews, various articles and the occasional poem. Most of these contributions appeared on the News’ opinion page, or “Community Forum,” a title that reflects the nature of this page: a place for the community to exchange opinions and ideas on a variety of topics, from public issues of debate to local and national politics, from serious areas of concern to lighthearted subjects; a page to praise or critique. The people listed in the space below have helped make this page an effective, lively forum. For that, we thank you. Your contributions make this a better paper. And at this time next year, we hope to list even more names, especially from people who have never written to the News.

Those who contribute in other ways also need to be recognized. Week after week, the pages of the News are filled with valuable information about Yellow Springs — and much of it is generated by readers who regularly submit announcements, press releases, obituaries, items for the “In and around Yellow Springs” section, photos and sports reports. Your contributions help readers and advertisers know what’s going on in the community.

Thank you also to all our advertisers. Whether you advertised regularly, participated in the News’ many special publications or took out an ad just once, you help keep the presses rolling every week. Without you, we could not publish this paper.

Most of all, thanks to our readers, for your support, ideas and feedback. You have many ways you can spend your time and money, and it is humbling and exciting to know that you chose to spend a few hours each week reading this newspaper. The News would not be a successful newspaper without its readers.
