OBITUARIES

Alberta S. Lewis

Alberta S. Lewis of Yellow Springs died Thursday, Nov. 10, in Friends Care Community. She was 87.

She was born Jan. 22, 1918, the daughter of William. M. and Carrie E. (Covington) Schooler. She was a member of Central Chapel AME Church, where she was the church musician, Link, Inc., and AKA sorority. She graduated from Wilberforce with a bachelor of science in social science. She was a secretary for Jabsco ITT Products.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman W. Lewis Jr.; one son, Woodward M. Lewis; two sisters, Julia Jackson and Leora M. Stagner; and three brothers, William B. Schooler, Virgil A. Schooler Sr. and Booker T. Schooler.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Sherman and Karen Lewis of Springfield and Herman Ronald and Helen Lewis of Dayton; a brother, James M. Schooler Jr. of Durham, N.C.; six grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 14, at Central Chapel AME Church. Burial followed in Glen Forest Cemetery. Porter-Qualls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Heather Conley

Heather N. Conley of Fairborn died Saturday, Nov. 12, as a result of an automobile accident in Yellow Springs. She was 25.

She was born March 27, 1980, in Xenia, the daughter of Benton “Eddie” and Vicki (Skaggs) Harris. Heather was a manager with Subway in Fairborn.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Clifford and Lonia Lewis; and four uncles, Steve Osborne Sr., Mark Lewis, Harold Lewis and Ralph Lewis.

She is survived by her children, Austin Watts, Wyatt LaMaster and Alisa Conley; her parents; siblings, Angel Lewis of Fairborn and Cliff Lewis of Fairborn; maternal grandparents, Tom and Betty Fraley of Fairborn; nieces and nephews, Paige, Taylor, Briana, Aliea, Abby, Ryan and Tyler; and 10 aunts and two uncles.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m., in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home in Fairborn, with burial following in Byron Cemetery in Fairborn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Heather Conley Memorial Fund at any Wright-Patt Credit Union branch.

Jonathan Coffey

Jonathan W. Coffey of Yellow Springs died Saturday, Nov. 12, in the Miami Valley Medical Center in Dayton. He was 25.

Friends may call Friday, Nov. 18, at Central Chapel AME Church, after 11 a.m., with his family present from noon to the time of services at 1 p.m. Internment will follow in Valley View Cemetery in Xenia. Porter-Qualls Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
