OBITUARIES
Laythan Burnett-Bartley
Laythan C. Burnett-Bartley of Chandler, Ariz.,
and a former resident of Springfield, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July
21, in Arizona. He was 25.
He was born Aug. 11, 1979, in Clifton, the son of Judy
Ann Burnett and Joseph Steve Bartley. Laythan was a 1998 graduate of Shawnee
High School. He was a caring and loving father, and a caring individual
who touched and helped many lives. He enjoyed nature, music and lived
life to the fullest. He looked forward to moving back to Ohio to be closer
to his daughter, and he missed the finer and simple things of Ohio, the
smell of the outdoors, the hay and corn fields. Laythan was the night
manager of the AMF Bowling Center in Chandler.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Arnold and
Mary Elizabeth Bartley; and an uncle, Jerry Burnett.
He is survived by his mother, Judy Ann Burnett of Ft.
Collins, Colo.; father, Joseph Steve Bartley of Young Harris, Ga.; daughter,
Jade Camden of Springfield; three brothers, Dustin, Joey and Shane Bartley,
all of Sarasota, Fla.; sister, Heather of Columbus; grandparents Paul
and Arnnie Burnett of South Vienna; aunts and uncles, Tom and Janie Burnett
of Springfield, Susie and Bob Hearlihy of Plano, Texas, Roger and Jan
Bartley of Tiffin, Veronica and Danny Kidder of Springfield, Tom and Lisa
Bartley of Waverly, and Phil and Roxie Bartley of Springfield; and numerous
cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30, in the
Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Glen Haven
Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made
to the family in care of the funeral home.
Kenneth A. Fleck
Kenneth A. “Dwyer” Fleck of Shelton, Conn.,
died Friday, July 29, at his home after a long illness. He was 78.
Mr. Fleck was born Jan. 25, 1927, in East Lyme and
has been a resident of Shelton for the past 27 years.
He was formerly a manager at Thornton Oil, served in
the Navy in World War II, and was a member of the American Legion Sutter-Terlizzi
Post 16.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Levesque Fleck; children,
Ronald Fleck of Renton, Wash., Patricia Eve Fleck of Yellow Springs, and
Kevin Fleck of New Haven, Conn.; stepchildren, Raymond LaBonte of Naugatuck,
Conn., Michael La Bonte of West Haven, Conn., Susan Ratkevich of Southbury,
Conn., Diane Bailey of Seymour and Anne Margaret DiMiero of Ware, Mass.;
grandchildren, Lydia and Evan Gerthoffer of Yellow Springs and stepgrandchildren,
Brian, Danielle, Christopher, Jeffrey, Melissa, Emily, Jake, Benjamin,
David and Annaliese of Connecticut and Massachusetts.
His funeral arrangements will be private and have been
entrusted to the Riverview Funeral Home in Shelton, Conn.
