OBITUARIES
John Cover Waymire
John Cover Waymire died on Monday, March 14,
at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 91.
Born June 9, 1913, he was the son of Emma Mabel (Coover)
Waymire and Winfield L. Waymire. John graduated from Vandalia-Butler High
School in 1931 and attended Ohio State.
He retired from NCR, where he worked as an electrical
foreman, and also retired from Delco Moraine. John’s agricultural
interests played a large part in his life, from the family farm to gardening.
It was John’s love for travel that took him and his wife, Mary,
to all 50 states and throughout the world. He was a member of St. Paul’s
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler Township and the Vandalia Lions
Club.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Robert
G. Barnes Jr.; sisters, Frances, Miriam and Charlotte; and brother, Stuart.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Kathleen
Henrich Waymire, and their five children, John Q. and Patricia Van Scoyk
Waymire of Yellow Springs, Ralph H. Waymire and Laura Cheney of South
Charleston, Marilyn Waymire Barnes of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Marjorie Waymire
and John Slagle of Vandalia and Patricia Waymire and Jim Arndts of Troy;
14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, March 19, at St. Paul’s
Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial following in Polk Cemetery in
Butler Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Vandalia Lions Club.
Virginia A. Trinkler
Virginia A. Trinkler of Springfield died Thursday,
March 17, in Community Hospital.
Born in Yellow Springs, she was the daughter of Thomas
and Norma (Brown) Donley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; sister,
Maxine Archbold; and brother, Gene Donley.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah
and Paul Bolden of Columbus; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Ava,
Mike and Tracey, and Jim Trinkler, all of Springfield; grandchildren,
Jacob Trinkler and April Copley; and sister-in-law, Julie Favorite.
A mass of Christian burial was held Monday, March 21,
at St. Paul Catholic Church. She was buried in Watkins Cemetery in Sturkie,
Ark. Jackson Lytle & Williams Maley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Elmo Aleshire
Robert Elmo Aleshire of Springfield died Saturday morning,
March 12, in Mercy Medical Center, following a courageous battle with
cancer. He was 75.
He was born in Urbana on July 13, 1929, the son of
Robert L. and Dorothea (Weigel) Aleshire. He graduated from Lawrenceville
High School. Elmo served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Austria from 1951
to ’52.
He worked at P.E. West and Ripley’s for 13 years
as a mechanic, Mr. Insurance for six years as a salesman and in management
at Rhoades Paper Box Company for 28 years, retiring in 1995. Since his
retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and dining
out. He also enjoyed golf, flying, photography, being a HAM radio operator,
gardening and being a handyman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two cousins,
Dick Jones and J. Eddie Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce (Baker)
Aleshire; three children and their spouses, Brent A. and Nancy Aleshire
of West Chester, Rita Jo and Tim Wisecup of Yellow Springs and Brad L.
and Julie Aleshire of London; grandchildren, Brandi L. and Mike Payton,
Shannon M. Aleshire and Lance Dorr, Jessica M. Aleshire, Kaylee Aleshire,
Leah and Scott Aleshire and Jonathan Wisecup; two great-grandchildren;
an uncle, Don Wiegel; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 23, in
the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home in Springfield. Entombment was in
Rose Hill Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice,
