OBITUARIES
Dorothy Vandiver
Dorothy Perkins Liddle Vandiver died Friday,
Feb. 11, at Friends Care Community. She was 85.
She was born on Jan. 20, 1920, in New York City, the
eldest daughter of professor Albert W. and Ruth (Perkins) Liddle. Dorothy
was a long-time resident of Yellow Springs, world traveler and rescuer
and champion of all creatures great and small.
She is survived by her sisters, Jean Liddle DeWine
and Juliet Liddle Hennessey, both of Yellow Springs; her daughter, Juliet
Vandiver Waldron of Hershey, Penn.; grandsons, Miles and Jesse Waldron
of Atlanta; and three great-granddaughters, Rachel, Abigail and Payton.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 14, at McColaugh
Funeral Home in Xenia, with burial following in Glen Forest Cemetery.
Charles Schulte Jr.
Charles F. Schulte Jr. of Enon died Thursday, Feb.
10, in Dayton. He was 79.
He was born Oct. 8, 1925, in Osborne, Ohio, the son
of Charles F. and Hazel M. Schulte Sr.
Charles retired from Wright-Paterson Air Force Base.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles lodges 397 and 4069,
and a member of VFW Post 8437, Amvets Post 37 and the Union Club.
He is survived by three daughters and their partners,
Lynn Menda of London, Susan Schulte and Garry Gray of Springfield and
Jean Liming and John Lundberg of Enon; a sister, Dorothy Novotny; six
grandchildren, Luke, Lindsay, Garrett, Steve, Mark and Melissa; a niece,
Patsy; and a nephew, Dwayne.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 14, in Adkins
Funeral Home in Enon, with burial following in St. Paul Cemetery in Yellow
Springs.
Memorial, celebration planned for Vondruska
A memorial service and celebration of the life of Tom
Vondruska will be held Saturday, Feb. 19, 1–4 p.m., in Westminster
Hall, First Presbyterian Church. Those attending may bring stories, poems,
food and music to share.
Vondruska died at the age of 49 on Saturday, Jan. 29,
after battling Parkinson’s disease for many years. Contributions
may be made to the Thomas Vondruska Memorial Fund, at the US Bank, in
Yellow Springs.
