OBITUARIES
Lou Allegra McNary
Lou Allegra McNary of Yellow Springs died Tuesday,
Jan. 11, at Friends Care Community. She was 85.
Lou was a member in good standing of the First Baptist
Church since 1960, when she first came to Yellow Springs from Indiana.
She served as an usher and was instrumental in organizing the Wednesday
morning prayer group. She also arranged the fellowship meal at watch night
service. She will be remembered by her church family as a loyal and faithful
member until her health failed.
Jim and Mary Agna said during the 1960s Lou was “pivotal
as housekeeper for our large family of children and foster children.”
Her caring and competent manner convinced them to pursue full-time activities
as physicians in the region. The Agna family cherishes the memory of sharing
a significant portion of their lives with her and her son, Frank Lewis.
Lou joined Vernay Laboratories in May 1969 and was
employed by Vernay until she retired in June 1991. Her colleague Gary
Blooms said that Lou effectively served in various positions with Vernay,
mostly related to product quality assurance operations. “Those who
worked with Lou appreciated her contagious positive outlook and friendliness
toward everyone. Regardless of the difficulty of the task, Lou was enthusiastic
about her work, every day,” Bloom said.
