The regional finals will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, 7 p.m., at West Carrollton High School.

The Bulldogs maintained their run for a championship title on Monday with a resounding 4–0 win over West Liberty-Salem in the semifinals.

The team’s defensemen, Hosket, Brandon Carver-Halley, David Suzel and James Butler, and goalie John Pamplin recorded their 9th shutout in 16 games.

Midfielders Keyes, Ryan Silvert and Kyle Buchwalder provided great ballhandling, defensive support and transition to offense, coach Jim Hardman said.

YSHS Sports Round up

Girls soccer falls to Greeneview
The YSHS girls soccer team started out its tournament play with a bang last Tuesday, Oct. 19, with a resounding 7–0 win over the Tri-County North Lady Panthers.

Despite wet conditions, the Lady Bulldogs came ready to play and quickly took control of the game, keeping the ball within shooting range of Tri-County’s goal. The girls controlled the ball for the bulk of the game, and led 3–0 at the half. Megan Burrick scored the game’s first goal, on an assist by Tricia McLinden. Emily Foubert delivered the second score, also assisted by McLinden. Emily Dozeman put away the third, assisted by Erin Silvert-Noftle.

In the second half Silvert-Noftle scored a goal, Foubert scored 2 more and Burrick scored her second goal and the team’s last point.

“Yellow Springs came together and worked well as a team and also received outstanding support from the bench,” coach MacKenzie Reynolds said.

But last Thursday, the Lady Bulldogs’ season ended when they lost 6–3 to Greeneview.

Foubert, Laura Garcia and Burrick scored for YSHS.

The Lady Bulldogs finished the year 11–3–3.

Volleyball loses to Jackson
In its first round of Division IV tournament on Oct. 20 at Sydney, the YSHS girls volleyball team had the disadvantage of being one player down. Still, the girls gave it their all, although they couldn’t overcome the power of the third-seeded Jackson Center.

The girls were full of nerve in the first game but couldn’t pull it out, losing 25–9. High scorer was Ashlee Jackson. In game two, the team knew it had to fight harder and it did, but with no substitute for injured Megan Lents, they lost, 25–10. High scorers were Jackson and Niquelle Orr. In the third game the audience enjoyed a header by Evin Wimberly as the team tried to stay in the game but the team ended up on the losing side, 25–7. The high scorer was Orr.

The volleyball team had a strong season, finishing 10–7 and in third place in the Metro Buckeye Conference.

Coach Shirley Martin said that she is proud of the Lady Bulldogs’ performance. Wimberly was named to first team MBC, and Lents was named to the second team and the Coach Ability Team.
