Wendy Cooper Schurkey
Wendy Cooper Schurkey, the daughter of Mary B. Cooper
of Waverly, Ohio, and Paul R. Cooper of Yellow Springs, died at home
in Vancouver, Wash., on early Sunday morning, March 21, following a
long illness. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 28.
Wendy was a graduate of the Antioch School and
Yellow Springs High School and attended the University of Cincinnati.
She is survived by her husband, Steven Schurkey
of Vancouver, Wash.; sister, Scotte Kilby of Winthrop, Wash.; birth father,
Gurdon S. Buck, and natural brothers, Richard, Andy and Michael.

Martha Ryan
Martha Walker Ryan died on Saturday, Jan. 31, in Asheville, N.C.
She graduated from Bryan High School about 1940 and served as a corpsman
in the Navy during World War II. She had resided in Melbourne, Fla., for
many years.
She was the widow of Col. James E. Ryan, (U.S. Air Force).
She is survived by one son, Kevin, of Florida; sister, Jeanne Walker Llana
of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and two brothers, Brent (Buddy) Walker of Crossville,
Tenn., and Douglas Walker of Asheville.
Dennis Kraus memorial
A memorial service for Dennis Joseph Kraus will be held Sunday, March
28, 1 p.m., at the Glen Helen Building.
Kraus of Fairborn, formerly of Yellow Springs, died on Tuesday, Jan. 27,
at Hospice of Dayton, after a year’s illness. He was 41.
At the memorial, Dennis’s father, Michael Kraus, will present the
Yellow Springs Community Foundation with a check for $1,000 in his son’s
name to launch the endowment fund for the Dennis Kraus Memorial Summer
Soccer Camp Fund. The fund’s goal is to raise $7,000 a year to send
a boy and a girl to soccer camp each summer.
