’Dogs open winter season
The Yellow Springs High School girls basketball team will open the winter
sports season this Friday, Nov. 15, when the squad plays Jefferson at
Xenia Christian.
A number of new varsity and JV players will be introduced during the game,
which is the first contest of the evening.
Though the varsity team lost two seniors to graduation last year, Coach
Shirley Cummins said she has a lot of confidence in this year’s squad,
which consists mostly of sophomores. “This is a quick team. They’re
some really hard workers,” said Cummins, who has coached for the
past 17 years, two of which have been with Yellow Springs.
Also playing in preseason matches on Friday night are: Middletown and
Cincinnati at 6:45 p.m.; Ridgeville and Troy at 7:30; and Miami Valley
and Xenia Christian
